Lionesses Roar To Victory Against Brazil In Historic Finalissima

April 07, (THEWILL) – England claimed a historic victory in the Finalissima after defeating Brazil in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out of the final match on Thursday night.

England started the game with an impressive attacking display, causing problems for Brazil down the channels. Lucy Bronze’s long-range strike forced Leticia Izidoro to make a brilliant save, while Ella Toone gave England the advantage with her opening goal.

However, Brazil came back stronger in the second half, with Geyse causing trouble for the hosts especially in their danger area. Impressively however, England’s defense held strong, with Leah Williamson making a crucial interception to clear the danger. There was no stopping Brazil though as substitute Andressa Alves scored a last-minute equaliser to take the game to penalties.

It was another like-for-like as both teams held their nerve in the opening rounds. However, it was Chloe Kelly who sealed the deal for England, scoring the winning penalty to secure their place in the history books. This victory marks a significant milestone for the Lionesses, who will undoubtedly motivate them to aim for the 2023 World Cup.
