Manchester United’s bid to cement their top-four position took a major hit following a shock 2-1 loss at home to Leeds United.
The long-term rivals met at Old Trafford on Monday night and the home side’s lethargic first half was ruthlessly punished by Leeds’ Noah Okafor who hit a brace to hand precious three points to Leeds that ease their relegation worries.
Okafor pounced on Lenny Yoro’s poor clearance to put the visitors ahead, and the Switzerland international of Nigerian heritage doubled the lead on 29 minutes with a deflected strike.

Red Devils defender Lisandro Martinez was sent off on 56 minutes for violent conduct that stemmed from pulling Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair, but reduced the deficit through Casemiro’s powerful header.
Michael Carrck’s side however could not prevent the defeat, losing their first home match under Carrick. The club’s shock loss at home is also the first to Leeds in the league since 1981, a result that sees the former EPL champions hang on to third place by goals difference, with six matches remaining to return to the European Champions League at the end of the season.
Leeds United on the other hand are in 15th position with 36 points from 32 matches and six points away from a relegation slot, improving their chances of beating relegation.
