The Nigerian Army Finance Corps on Friday held a valedictory pulling-out parade in honour of 10 senior officers who have bowed out of active service, celebrating their professional journey and dedication to the Nigerian Army.
The colourful event was held at the Nigerian Army School of Signals Parade Ground, Apapa, Lagos, and featured ceremonial displays, tributes, and a grand reception attended by military top brass, family, and dignitaries.
The officers honoured at the ceremony include Major Generals KI Yusuf, AA Fayemiwo, J Mohammed, RN Ochei, MO Ihanuwaze, M Galadima, SA Gumel, and Brigadier Generals EA Obona, AS Maikano, and MK Baba-Mallam.
According to a statement released on Saturday by Lt. Col. Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division, the event drew wide attendance from serving and retired officers, including former Chiefs of Army Staff, corps commanders, captains of industry, and families of the retirees.
Delivering his valedictory speech, Major General Kamal Ishola Yusuf (retd.), who served as Special Guest of Honour, described the occasion as one of the most “colourful and dignified parades” he had ever witnessed.
“The military remains one of the few institutions that steadfastly uphold tradition. Such customs form the backbone of its identity and shape its discipline, ethos, and collective sense of purpose,” he said.
He described the pulling-out parade as a clear testament that the Army and the Finance Corps were thriving by honouring their noble heritage.
Major General Yusuf expressed appreciation to God Almighty for preserving the lives of the retirees throughout their service years and thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for his support to the Finance Corps.
“We are grateful to the Chief of Army Staff for his unwavering support to the Finance Corps,” he said.
He also acknowledged the Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), Major General TT Sidick, whose efforts were instrumental in ensuring the ceremony’s success.
Highlights of the event included a ceremonial march-past, group photographs, and the symbolic pulling-out parade of the retired officers.
The ceremony culminated in a grand reception at the Command Finance Office, where guests were treated to live band performances, cultural troupe displays, comedy interludes, and sumptuous meals.
