The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has coasted to victory in Saturday’s Gubernatorial election in Delta state.
PDP garnered the highest number of votes cast in 21 local government areas to secure victory for its candidate in the polls, while the APC won in 4 local government areas.
The party won in Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Ukwuani, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, Isoko North, Isoko South, Ethiope East, Ethiope West, Okpe, Sapele, Warri North, Warri South, Bomadi, Patani, Burutu and Warri South West.
APC won in Udu, Uvwie, Ughelli North and Ughelli South.

Sheriff Oborevwori was declared winner and returned elected by the Returning Officer for the Gubernatorial election in Delta state, Prof Georgewill Owunari, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.
The Governor-elect polled a total of 360,234 of the valid votes cast to defeat his distant rival, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who garnered 240,229 votes.
710,829 voters were accredited for the election, while the valid votes cast stood at 671,737
