Akwa Ibom NULGE commends Umo Eno for clearing workers’ arrears

The Akwa Ibom chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has commended Governor Umo Eno for the payment of outstanding arrears owed to local government workers.

In a statement signed by Anestina Iweh, state president of NULGE, the union described the payment as evidence of the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare.

The union also expressed appreciation to Frank Archibong, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs; Uwemedimo Udo, chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Akwa Ibom and chairman of Uyo LGA; and the 31 local government chairmen for their roles in facilitating the payment.

NULGE said the arrears were inherited from previous administrations. According to the union, the settlement of the outstanding obligations has brought relief to local government workers across the state.

The union said the payment had restored confidence in government and boosted the morale of workers who had waited for the arrears to be cleared.

NULGE added that the intervention demonstrated the administration’s understanding of the challenges faced by local government employees and its commitment to improving their welfare and productivity.

The union said the successful payment had further strengthened workers’ confidence in the leadership of the governor and other stakeholders involved in the process.

NULGE pledged the continued support and loyalty of local government workers to the implementation of the ARISE Agenda.

The union also assured the state government of its commitment to efficient service delivery at the grassroots.

According to the statement, the clearance of the outstanding obligations marks another milestone in efforts to strengthen the local government system and improve service delivery across the state.

The union added that local government workers had expressed renewed confidence in the current administration following the payment of the arrears.
