BREAKING: Kenneth Okonkwo Officially Replies to Obi’s Demand Letter [PHOTOS]

Lawyer and public affairs analyst Kenneth Okonkwo has officially responded to the pre-action demand letter sent by his former ally and presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Obi had on June 9, threatened a ₦5 billion defamation lawsuit following an interview where Okonkwo alleged that fraud and extortion occurred during the party primaries of the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

In a formal reply dated June 16, 2026, issued by his legal team at Supreme God Chambers, Okonkwo firmly rejected the defamation claims, stating that his remarks reflected true information provided directly by an aggrieved aspirant.

The reply letter denies that Okonkwo defamed Obi during his appearance on Channels Television. Instead, the document reveals that Okonkwo was acting on behalf of a client named Obunike Ohaegbu (alias Nwa Miss).

According to the letter, Obunike claimed he paid ₦10,000,000 to secure a ticket under the NDC as part of what he described as a “scam orchestrated by your Client, Mr Peter Obi” and the party to defraud him.

The response letter also criticizes Obi for publishing Okonkwo’s personal phone number on social media without serving him personally, describing it as a severe data breach and an invasion of privacy. Okonkwo’s legal team noted that this exposure resulted in targeted online attacks and threats, warning that appropriate legal remedies would be sought for this action.

Defending Okonkwo’s long professional standing as a lawyer, columnist, and Nollywood pioneer, the chamber dismissed Obi’s ₦5 billion demand as a calculated attempt to “distract and cow him” from exposing alleged political wrongdoing.

The details of the letter are as follows:
